I'm in the process of adding on to my garage for a car hoist and I needed space for distruction and construction. I had to store my 64 roadster at in friends pole barn. I just came back from checking on it, and discovered mice turds and urine on the surface of the car, as well as inside. He says he has never had this before in any of his cars. I cleaned it up right away. I haven't had to deal with this before. Short of putting moth balls in and around the car, (I hate the smell they leave), are there any sugestions for keeping them away? I will need to keep it there for at least 4 more weeks.

Cat poop on a car? Never....
happen. Cats are one of the cleanest animals around, why they take more baths than some humans. All ya gotta have is a litter box, put the cat in the litter box, and he will remember where to find it. Just clean it daily and you won't have any cat poop or tinkle outside the box. Don't forget to provide the cat with a scratching post. If one is handy, he won't go scratching the top. Besides that's what tarps and car covers are made for.
Can't find a better mouse trap anywhere. I bet if you put a cat in that barn, within a week there won't be a mouse around.- Top

Yeah, but cat spray dissolves coated headers!!
Just make sure the cat has been neutered and is not a territorial beast. Nothing is more caustic than cat scent marking spray. One of our neutred furry critters, with an attitude of hatred towards me & my cats (for moving in on his territory when I married his human) "claimed" the '27 Ford T roadster Streetrod for his own one day. He sprayed the exposed engine & ceramic-coated headers. We discovered it a few days later and tried cleaning it off and neutralizing it with everything we could think of. Several months later, even after vigorous scrubbing and cleaning the cat spray in combination with the heat ate holes in the ceramic coating! Not baking soda nor other cleaners did a damn bit of good to neutralize or get the cat piss off. It just continued to eat the headers where each drop of spray landed. It's the only thing I've ever seen even phase the ceramacoating. Don't get me wrong, I love our 2 furry critters, but I'll set 300 mouse traps & gourmet cheese in a nice ring around the car long before I ever put a cat in charge of guarding my vette! ~Juliet2019 Sebring Orange 8-Spd Coupe (daily driver & autocross) 6k mi.
