    C1 - 2x4 Setup Reco's

I'm just about done with a total resto of my '59 270hp and I can hardly wait to fire her up! Before I do though....I need some advice from you 2x4 carburetor dudes. I had my carbs rebuilt by a very well known person in the business and I'm sure the details and static setups are precisely correct. I've been told that these carbs are very tricky to adjust and maintain. I puchased the 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", 95 page booklet on "Operation and Service Procedure" for the Dual Carter WCFB's (that the General issued). It contains a lot of details. My sense is that I will need some "real world" knowledge in order to be satisfied with good "streetability"

Can some of you "experts" please increase my knowledge base?

    Thanks!

Bob Kunz did my '57 270 carbs in 1997 - I bolted them on, did a very minor tweak to idle mixture and idle rpm, and never touched them again until I sold the car five years/5,000 miles later. Not much to go wrong with the old WCFB's as long as you drive the car.

I had Bob Kunz do mine as well. Not any problems in 5 years, except I now have trouble keeping the idle RPMs below 2000. The idle adjustment is fine, however it appears that the adjustment on the rear carb is causing the problem. However when I move the high idle cam to the correct position the low idle is then back to normal rpms until I come to a stop and then its high idle again. I have not been able to solve the problem. Anybody know what the solution would be???

Geme. Sounds likethe choke linkage may be pulling the linkage off the idle setting. If you feel lucky try leaning off heBakelite choke housing a notch or two. Also, check that all he choke linkage is free from binding. Regards,

I thought that might be the solution. Thanks for the response.
