    '66 seat belt question

    Hello,

Which of these two anchors would be correct for a late '66?

The second picture shows my original retrector half label and a restored buckle half. Shouldn't both labels look the same as far as how the date code is stamped and the printing? If so is an exact reproduction label available anywhere?

    Thanks,

    Ian

      Ian -

The left anchor is identical to those on an original set I just installed in my '66 (Jan. 4 1966).

The left (dirty brown) label looks correct. LONG ISLAND CORVETTE has labels w/dates. The new labels are white. Thread is about a #210. I had to purchase a spool for the shoemaker to use for my labels. He used a #69 in shoe repair.

I don't know if it makes a difference or not but the left one is an Irving and the right one is a Hamill. The car is July '66. I have seen a picture of a pair of '67 belts with the small anchor but I don't know if this was particular to a certain manufacturer or not.

Ian - Anchor on the right is was I would expect on the inboard (the buckle belt) for a late '66. It's what my late '66 (25,305) has. They are Hamill 1966, Model # C10. Pete

Ian - Tag on the left is identical with the tags on the Hamill seeat belts from my late '66 (S/N 25,305). Pete

Ian - The small anchor is the configuration used on the Hamill inboard belts thru the 1967 production. I would not expect a "late" 1966 (after S/N 16,200, mid-February 1966, according to the NCRS TIM&JG) to have other than the Hamill belts. Pete

                    Ian,
The right anchor is correct ....and the left tag is correct for 66 mid year or older

So is the repro tag on the right a poor reproduction or are all reproduction tags that inaccurate?

                          Jim,

It came on belts from Americas FInest so I don't know the supplier of the tag.
