    1954 Corvette distributor tach drive

I am working on the tach drive for a 1954 corvette. Tach, cable are okay. Problem is the helical gear on the distributor is stripped or worn out. I have been told there are replacement main shafts with new gears and also the block that the cable connects to. I have been unable to locate a source for this and could use the board's help in advising a source.
    Thanks in advance.

    Ted-----

There are replacement main shafts with integral gears and replacement adapters available for LATER Corvette distributors. I've never heard of any being available for the 6 cylinder distributors. The market for these things would be so small that I'm surprised that anyone would make them. However, who knows? If I were you I would call Hi-Tech Innovations in Holiday, FL (727) 942-4003. They manufacture many parts for later Corvette distributors. I don't think that they manufacture them for the 6 cylinder distributors. However, I'm sure that the question has been asked of them before and, perhaps, they know of a source.

      Joe,
Thanks for the advice. Hi-Tech had the shaft available and the price wasn't all that bad. No cross shafts but mine is okay. Bill said he is in the process of setting up a website so he may be more visible in the future.

YEARS ago, Harvey Edelstein reproduced the shafts. Don't know if he's still doing it. I no longer have a contact #. As I recall, he was in/near Chicago, Illinois. Chuck
