I'm in the process of rebuilding a 1962 Carter AFB #3269s for my 327/340, it's burning a little too rich. The problems I'm having is finding the correct finishes on certain parts. I realize that it's mainly a raw aluminum casting. But I have seen a few cars where the linkage parts like the bellcrank has been plated "yellow cad". I have also seen a car or two with the choke housing done as well. The Judging Manual realy doesn't go into much depth on this subect so if anyone could please offer so help it would be greatly apprecited. Thanks,Terry

Re: Carter AFB Caburetors
I still have the 3461S from my '63 340. It's been rebuilt a couple of times, but never "restored". All the linkages and levers appear to be Type I (silver) cad or equivalent. I also have a new 3721SB that I purchased in the mid-seventies, and it has a mixture of both type I and type II (gold) cad. It's quite possible that the original drawings specified either type of plating, and the small parts may have come from different vendors who found one or the other process cheaper of more convenient. That's a level of detail we'll probably never know for sure.
