T-3 head light date code

greetings members, I need help with the date codes on the back of T-3 headlights
If one has the numbers 44 8 9 how is this number read?

From what i printed off here the other week it should be something like this

4= 4th month
4= line #4
8= year 58?
9= day of month

The chart is most useful Harry as it shows all lights are march 68 and april 68 and is correct for my cars build sheet
One more question PLEASE the chart did not tell about the L above the 4001 or 4002 Two of my lights have this L both are second shift differant lines? also all the lights are not spread in date more than 12 days! I find all this date stuff amazing!!!!
