    '66 front springs

The '66 judging manual states that the front coil springs should be black in appearance from coating for rust protection. I always thought they should be natural looking. I just acquired a low mile '66 and the springs have a black coating, but the car also has received some extra dealer coating on the springs. I'm not sure what is factory and what is extra.

    Tim,

The front coil springs would have been natural, unpainted. It is POSSIBLE that there may have been a bit of light overspray in a few spots from the final blackout but not likely. I woulg guess that any black coating that you see on your springs was done by some previous owner.
