    C3 - water pump

I have the original WP (3991399) for my '71. Is a rebuild kit available ?
It's not howling or seeping, so if I can't rebuild it, I'll just clean, paint and re-use.

    Thanks

My original water pump lasted for over 100,000 miles on my 70. Started leaking out of the weep hole. Bill Mock rebuilds water pumps, he is listed in the NCRS Driveline.

      Jim-----

The GM #3991399 waterpump casting uses exactly the same rebuild parts as the later 330813 which was used through 1982. I believe that some of the Corvette parts sources carry the rebuild kit for this pump.

Keep in mind that rebuilding a waterpump requires the use of an arbor or hydraulic press AND it requires some skill and experience. The castings are easily broken in the process. Also, some important "attributes" required for a finished waterpump may be "lacking" in one rebuilt by an inexperienced person. I learned how to do this job properly by "sacrificing" many pump bodies and rebuild parts in the "education" process [however, I absolutely DO NOT perform any pump rebuilding for others; STRICTLY my own; no exceptions; period]. Others, like Arthur Gould do provide rebuilding service for these pumps.

        Jim,
I recently sent my (1970) original water pump to Art Gould in NY last week.
I can let you know how it turned out. Sounds like he is knowledgeable, etc. I saw his ad in Hemmings and sent it there. Didn't know he would be mentioned here.
