Re: 57 block casting
Ken -
I'm confused - you have indicated two different casting dates for the block (October 4th and December 20th); if it's October 4th, you'll get full credit for the casting number and date (525 points), and get a 50-point deduction for the pad stamp (CD - passenger car) being incorrect, but still get credit for the 38 points for the pad appearance and surface if it's original.
If it's December 20th, that's after the car was built, so you'd get a 175-point deduction for the casting date, plus a full deduction (88 points) for the pad, as judging stops with the casting date if it's incorrect.
Block judging is progressive (as described in the "Corvette Judging Reference Manual", a/k/a the "white book"); casting number first, then casting date, then the pad; if the casting number is incorrect, judging stops there and all the points for the casting number, date and the pad are deducted; if the casting date is incorrect, judging stops there and all the points for the date and pad are deducted. If the casting number and date are correct, the pad is judged on its merits and any appropriate deductions are taken for that item.
