Does anyone know where I can get some information about casting numbers for 57 transmissions? Joe Lucia gave me some good insight about my case a while back but I am still trying to get the correct number for an early '57 tail. I have three 56-62 tails and they are all different.

Fred, This is from memory, so beware. Early '57 3-speeds cast tail numbers ended with 450 and were not date coded. Later'57 tails were date coded. Regards -

Excellent 4 page article in Spring 88 restorer. The last page has a good chart on the number make up. IF you don't have access to one I can scan and email a PDF of it to you.
