    Rear cover bolts

I am ready to reattach my rear cover on the differential. I have heard the bolts are cad/zinc coated. I have also heard that they are suppose to be black. Can someone verify the plating/color of these bolts? Also, any recommendations for the gasket. Should I use a silicone material or just bare?

The bolts were black oxide or black phosphate; they were NOT plated. For a gasket I would use a stock GM gasket which has been very lightly coated with grease.

      Joe,

Thanks for the info. Do you or does anyone know of a kit to do the black oxide or black phosphate on bolts?
