My engine normally idles steady at around 650RPM, which is where I like it. On a given day, sometimes when I come to a stop the idle will be higher, close to 800RPM, smooth and steady also, and remain there until the engine is shut down. The idles stop screw is against the lever when this happens, and I can adjust the screw to bring it down to 650 again. Is there a particular circuity in the carb that might be allowing this to happen?
As check the linkage to the "thermal" choke spring. I found that my rod that goes into the little choke dog house was sometimes bottoming out on the intake manifold. (Keeping the idle higher)
