Can anyone tell me if the lower left horizontal ignition shielding on a 67 small block is the same as the lower 72 small block. We recently ordered the 72 shielding from Corvette Central and it appears to be exactly the same as a 67, we sent it back and received another one, same situation, ordered the 72 from Paragon and it also appears to be the same as the 67. Does Corvette Central or Paragon source from one another or do they both source from a third party? Or is there a trick to installing the shielding Just can't seem to get it on correctly. thanks

Re: Ignition Shielding

None of the ignition shielding major components used for 1967 Corvettes is the same as that used for 1972 Corvettes. The only commonality is some of the brackets which retain the outer spark plug shields to the manifold bolts. That's it.
The 1972 lower "V" shields will work on a 1967 if the 70+ locking style motor mounts are used. In fact, if the locking style motor mounts are used on a 1967, then one has to use the 70+ lower "V" shields (or, modify the original shields). In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
