    C-3 top dash pad removal

Hey folks I gotta question for yall. I want to remove the top dash pad to access the speakers and was wondering what the proceedure is to take the pad out.And by the way I still can't get my steering column to drop down even after removing the two upper shaft bolts (drops 1/2") but you have to pull it down for that clearance, it should drop and stay down. anyone gotta BOMB?
    thanks.

you must also loosen the 2 bolts on the firewall , were the column exits the drivers cabin, down by the brake , pull the carpet back and look to either side of the column shifter base/support, loosen these 9-16" and the column will drop nicely . get a flash light and there are some small screws holding the dash pad down along the center line of the pad loosen these also and it helps the driverside dash pad to be pulled out

If you're removing the drivers dash pad, understand that the wiring harness goes over the top of the pad, over the top of the speedo and tach gauges, and has a few rubber-coated metal 'clamps'. Make sure you have pulled the harness away from the drivers pad before trying to get it all the way out.

To remove the top dash pad all trim around the windshield needs to be removed. Remove RH dash, loosen LH dash and center.Their may be a bracket in the middle with one screw. It is a tight fit and easy to break an old dash but with everything loose push dash to the left and slip it out on the passenger side. It comes almost straight out and on some Corvettes their is more room than others.
