    '66 AND '67 HEADREST ANGLE

I'm removing the original seat backs to install an extra set with headrests on my '66 roadster. Some of the headrests I've seen, both '66 and '67 angle forward more than others. The reproduction units available seem to have less of a forward angle than the originals. It seems like the original headrests I've seen, particularly on roadsters angle forward quite a bit. I was wondering if this was done to provide extra clearance from the deck lid. Does anyone have known, original '66 headrests they can post a picture of showing the amount of forward angle? Thanks...

    Rob,

If you are installing factory original headrests in your 66, you probably won't like them after a few miles of driving. You are correct, they do lean forward and are very uncomfortable as far as I'm concerned. My 66 has original headrests and in all of the years that I've owned the car, I've probably only actually had them installed a few times. They live in a box in my closet now.

If you need a pic of the angle of the installed unit, I can send or post one but if you have a set of originals now, you should be able to see the angle.

I believe the angle was greatly reduced in '67 for more comfort.

I agree with Scott. Also the '67 headrest cushion was leaner and had a more noticable horizontal curvature than the '66.
