    62 exhaust manifold temperature

I am curious about others experience with exhaust manifold temperatures. When warmed up my 62 FI car shows 180 on the IR gun at the waterneck, 110 on the valve covers and almost 500 when aimed at the exhaust manifolds. Is this normal?

    Thanks

    John

I get 170-180 on the upper rad hose, 155-160 on the lower rad hose, and over 500 on the exhaust manifolds after the car is warmed up for anything more than 10 minutes. I've never shot the valve covers since I'm not sure how accurate the IR is on aluminum. Gotta love IR guns!

After a 10 mile + drive during the hot summer my center 2 ports glow if you open the hood at night.Thats with 411s at highway speed.

Wow! A 'barely red' hue as viewed in the dark is ~900F, while a dark red color is ~1100F.
