Why not provide a photo of the logo in the roof panels. Someone could then decode the date info.

As a quick check...your glass code would be a two letter code on the right side of the lower right side of the t-top and would end in a "G". The first letter is the month code. To the left of the date code...should be "AS3" which indicates the American Standard rating code for laminated roof panel glass.

Both panels say AS3. The drivers side panel has the letters VC. The passenger side panel has the letters AC. I forgot to mention in my original inquiry that these roof panels have the glass set in a fiberglass framework. There is about two inches of fiberglass on each side of the glass.

That would make the dates Sep 76 and Dec 76...what's build date of the 77? Trim tag located on the driver's side windshield post. Should be a a letter followed by two numbers at the top of the tag.

John, Tom, I have a set of these roof panels also. I will check the dates tonight also. My question is; are these tops experimental from GM or are they some sort of a repo wanta be. Maybe Joe can shed some light on this.
Glad you posted, I had forgot about having my tops, they are in the back of my garage. John

The trim plate on my car says CHEVROLET B21.

John Sept. 21 1976 That makes one roof panel dated ok. Better check the date again they are easy to read wrong. Lyle

The numbers are different. One is AC and the other is VC. The hardware, weatherstripping, painting, all other overall features on the panels look identical. Could a glass have been replaced at some point?

My guess is that they were replaced immediately after the car was delivered...perhaps by the dealer or someone. The only confirmation is the build sheet which would have listed options. If you do a search over at the Corvette Forum on C3 build sheets...GM was making copies and sending them to owners and I believe they included 77. Now they charge $50.

                      Re: 1977 Glass Roof Panels

I got a copy of the dealers invoice from GM archives. That's how I found out the car was shipped out BODY IN PRIME. There's no mention of the glass roofs on the invoice, but there probably wouldn't be if GM never offered them as an option. That brings me back to my original question, how can I tell if what I have are GM prototype tops made prior to the legal dispute or aftermarket tops?
