    Window Sticker Quiz

Just looked at an ebay listing for a 66 Corvette. The seller posted a pic of what is supposed to be the original window sticker. How many things can you spot that may be slightly different than the norm. If you lived in the Chicago area in the 60's, you may pick out something that others will miss. Item #4549693731.

Well, F41 was not available with small block, so the sticker is bogus. Also, it does not have J56 as the sticker shows. The fiberglass looks a little too intact in the rear to be a real side exhaust car. Not to mention the fact that the sticker looks brand new. Nice car but not as advertised!

You nailed the big one Bill. Celozzi-Ettleson wasn't in business until about 1968. If I remember correctly, it was Zeplak Chevrolet before C&E.

The font on this sticker is like other reproductions. Printed of a computer font. If you would compare it to an original there are night and day differnces.

In the upper right corner, under the preprinted portion a 6 digit identification number should be printed. If you had the Regular Commercial and Truck documentation that accompanied the car to the dealership, the same identification number would be printed in the upper left hand corner of that document.

The biggest thing i noticed is that when he ordered the repro pre laminated label he didn't give them the VIN........

Michael, your question should have asked - "can you find anything right with this?" Oh also, address and Zip Code.

I was going to count the items but gave up. That would have been an unbuildable combination of options. A car that couldn't have ever existed. That would be like a coupe with the aux hardtop.

They did, however, get the address correct. 15 W 600 Roosevelt was the original address which, I believe, changed some years ago. On the zip code, I have to wonder exactly when zip codes were first used? I know it was some time after 1963 but not sure if they were used by 1966.

The 11108 is most likely an attempt at the dealer code as all of the Chicago area was zone 11 but I'm not sure if 11-108 would have been C&E or the previous dealer, Zeplak. I was trying to find my list of Chicago area dealer codes to verify but gave up looking.

Sorry about the late post I just got back in town, I window sticker from late 1965 has the zip code listed before the city and state but the first part of the sn is the same font and size as the other on the sticker and the last six digits are twice as large and crooked.
