    '66 Air Cleaner Decal/Sticker

Did the 1966 327/350HP engines have any type of sticker/decal on the top of the chrome air cleaner? I don't think so, right? So why do a lot of the '66 cars have the red "327 Turbo-fire 350 horsepower" (like the '67's) on them? I'm I missing something?

    Ken-----

The most likley reason that they have the air cleaner decal is that someone incorrectly placed them there. However, it's possible that they're original. Here's the deal: 1966 Corvettes with 300 hp engine originally used the "two label" valve cover-mounted labels like 1965. This was for early build 1966 300 hp. Later build used the "single label" mounted in the ceneter of the steel valve cover.

Early 1966 with L-79 originally used the valve cover-mounted horsepower decal, like 1965. However, I believe that later 1966 L-79 may have deleted the valve cover decal and replaced it with the air cleaner decal, like 1967. I don't know when the change occurred. I don't think that the valve cover and air cleaner labels were ever used simultaneously on the same engine.
