Clutch pedal spring for 62 vette

Hi Guys.

I have a 1962 corvette that i'm reinstalling the clutch/brake pedal assembly.Everything is connected except the large spring for the clutch.I'm having a difficult time connecting the spring. It's a BEAR. Does anyone have an easy way to hook up the spring? Your help is appreciated.

Cut a piece of aluminium 1 mm thick plate in little pieces (appr. 3 x 1,5 cm) and put all these pieces between each turn of the spring (one on the left and one on the right) by carefully bending the spring (without droping the already installed pieces). This way you can stretch the spring easely to the needed length and installed it.

Once installed press the clutch pedal and all the pieces of aluminium will drop on the floor and the spring is ready for operation...

Piece of cake (which I also learned from someone else).

I'll give that a try.It makes good sense. When I bought this car years ago, it was all apart in boxes with pieces missing.So this is one reason for all the questions i'm asking.
