In 1969 while living in Lima, Ohio a fellow that had alot of early Corvette's took me out to a warehouse and told me that the car I was looking at was a 1953. He showed me the serial number, which at the time meant very little to me. He offered it to me for $3000.00 dollar's. I had just bought a new 69 and did not have the fund's so I passed. Well all these years I often waunder what happened to #41. In the 1953 registry it is listed with no info, except a 1972 statement from Joe Pike. Last March I was back In Lima and was talking to a man that has interest in early cars. I ask about any 53's and he told me he new a person. I called them and they said they had a 53 but did not know the serial number. I called back latter and sure enough it was number 41. Jim & Barb Tilton are the proud owner's of # 41.

Patrick, there is/was an AIM for the 53 model year-------sort of. It was not issued as a manual like the ones you are used to seeing. Each sheet was actually a drawing created by the drafting department and given its own part number. There was no listing compiled of ALL of the part numbers in order to put it into a manual format.The 53 assembly plant was so small that each department within the plant was just given the DRAWINGS they needed.
The AIMs that you are used to seeing were created by a group known as the Graphics Department and were put into a manual format and each manual had just one part number.
I'm sure all the 53-54MY AIM type drawings are still in GMs files, the problem is knowing the each sheets part number.
