Technically, your Corvette would have come with a paper document called a "Corvette Order Copy" glued to the top of the fuel tank, after leaving the St Louis assembly plant. It also would have a "Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price" paper document sheet attached to the side window. It would also have a fold out pamphlet called a "1971 Chevrolet New Vehicle Warranty" that contained a metal protect-o-plate affixed to it, located in the storage compartment.
There is other paperwork, but will let someone else chime in.
I don't believe any paperwork is necessary for judging purposes, however having some or all of it will certainly help.
Tom,
In addition to what Warren described the glovebox would have contained an owners manual, Consumer information booklet, Radio Instructions (number 7301199), a trim ring instruction card, plastic envelope, and a licence plate envelope w/ 4 screws. They were all put in the car in St. Louis. The dealer may have added a white key knockout envelope and possibly some other dealer specific items. If you want to get real picky there may have been two plastic bags that held the licence plate frames too. The items I list here along with the warranty book/protecto-plate are part of the glovebox contents line item and is judged by NCRS. The point allocation is not very high but it is there none the less. I'm not familiar w/ Bloomington judging specifics but I think they place some weight on factory paperwork like window stickers, shippers etc. NCRS does not judge any Chevrolet documentation items like window stickers etc.
