    C2 Heater Blower Motor

The heater blower motor on my 65 vert only blows on high, it does not blow
on low or medium. I have taken the motor switch on the dash apart and cleaned
the terminals and everything looked very good, nothing bent or worn inside
the switch but I still have the same problem.

How can I further test the switch to see if it is working properly, also how
could I check the motor itself other than taking it to an electric motor
shop and have them check it out??

    Any suggestions are appreciated.

I believe that if you go to the heater box you will find the blower motor resistor. It is through this that the speeds are actually controled. They are still available from the usual local parts sources. (NAPA, Dealer, etc) I would suspect that if your switch is functioning that this has one or more coils burned out.

      Floyd and Dick-----

Yes, the resistor is very likely the problem. GM dealers still have available this part under GM #3929052. Armed with this part number and with the $6.67 current GM list price in your pocket, you should be able to get one from any GM dealer. This, particular, part was first used for the 1968 model year and became the SERVICE part for earlier models. However, I believe that the configuration of the originals and this part are VERY close.

Taking the part number to the dealer is important here, though. If you walk into most GM dealers and ask for a part for a 60's Corvette by description, the counterman is likely to tell you that it's "discontinued". Most of the time, they'll be right. Not in this case, though.

        Dick and Joe,
Thanks for the replies, you are correct about the resistor, I had totally forgot about the resistor, "duh" until a member on the CRPL told me the same thing. I had a spare one and I replaced the old one and that took care of the problem.
Joe, thanks for the GM part number, I will go down to my local Chevrolet dealer and order a new one to keep for a spare.

        Thanks again,
