How does someone test a coil to see if it's still good?

Re: Ignition Coil testing
Loren i generally check the primary and secondary resistance with an ohmmeter. The specs are published in various service manuals. Generally, if nothing appears to be wrong with the Phenolic nipple end, broken, cracked or whatnot, no obvious signs of leaking oil, and good resistance readings, it's "good to go".
PS I always carry a spare on road trips- Top
