What's an exceptable range of stamped dates on an alternator for a early May 1966 SB car?

I have a May 5th sb and the alternator is an April build. If I remember correctly, anything preceeding the build date of the car by 6 months is fine for judging.

Dwane,

If you're happy with your alternator except for the date, you can attach the front half, with the date and #, to yours easily instead of buying a complete new one. There's a guy here in CA that usually runs an add in Hemmnings for them.
