    C3 Fiberglass Markings

    Good Evening Everyone,
I lowered the tank on my 1971 LT1 this afternoon hoping to find my tank sticker. Not expecting it to be there, I found remnants that are illegible. I did find markings on the underside of the rear deck, on the fiberglass, that reads "G.T.R 12-7-70". My car was built around Christmas 1970, so this date makes sense. Is this a common thing to see on the fiber glass?

Manufacturer's marking - made by General Tire & Rubber Co. (GenCorp Division) - they were one of the subsequent owners of the A.O. Smith fiberglass panel molding complex in Ionia, Michigan, and later sold it again to Rockwell Automotive Division as the fiberglass industry continued to consolidate.

      John,
Thank you for the info...I did not know that. I assumed it was someone's initials.
      Thanks again,
      Todd
