65 Power Antenna

I am wondering if anyone knows where to get a original power antenna rebuilt. Or where to buy the parts to do it yourself. I have the original 65 power antenna from my car but the case is cracked where the cable winds to pull the antenna down. I would like to get it repaired if possible. Thanks Mike

O.E.M. Glass does a total rebuild for a very hefty $389.00. I don't know if there would be an aditional charge due to your cracked case. If you don't have a core, there is an aditional $75 core charge.


Of note they replace the mast in their rebuild.

I have a case for a 66 that I can sell. If it's the same as a 65 and you want it, let me know at Hotmail. I also have an article on how to rebuild the 66 antenna. Is your mast free? Does the drive move the mast when 12 volts is applied? If the drive cable is okay and the mast moves - even a little - you may be able to do it yourself. - Dave

Check the following "RESTORERS". One of them has an article on rebuild/repair of the '65-6 antenna; Winter '91, Winter '94, summer '95, Fall '95.

If you have it rebuilt, the shaft is usually shortened some and this can be measured on the judging field. Working ones at swap meets are hard to find now days. You might refer to the articles and give it a shot yourshelf. JB Weld Metal can fix a lot of broken metal cases.
