'66 350HP accelerator return spring attachment

Where exactly does the accelerator lever end of the return spring attach? (My carb is original and I currently have it attached to the hole in the lever)

Rob, At the carb end of your throttle rod is a 90* bend, there should be a hole about 1/2 inch past that bend. Spring goes there. Bill

I guess the cotter pin currently in the hole doesn't belong. So it's the spring that keeps the rod in place?
