THE HOOD WEATHERSTRIP ON MY C2 SEEMS TO BE TOO THICK. IT APPEARS NEW BUT WHEN I TRY TO CLOSE THE HOOD IT SEEMS LIKE THERE IS TOO MUCH WEATHERSTRIPPING THERE. CAN ANYONE GIVE ME A GOOD SOURCE FOR THE "PROPER" HOOD WEATHERSTRIPPING FOR THE C2.
THANK YOU, BILL
HI ROB, I JUST BOUGHT MY '63 ABOUT 3 MO. AGO "RESTORED" AND THE HOOD WEATHERSTRIPPING WAS ALREADY THERE, I HAVE HAD TROUBLE KEEPING THE HOOD LATCHED - HAVE TO PUSH HARD AT BOTH CORNERS TO LATCH IT AND WILL POP UP AT TIMES WHEN DRIVING. SORRY I DON'T KNOW THE SOURCE OF MY WEATHERSTRIPPING BUT IF ANYONE CAN HELP US OUT HERE IT WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
THANKS, BILL
Bill,
It may not be the weatherstripping. Have you compared it to another 63 to see if there are significant differences in thickness?
I would suspect hood alignment. Unscrew the pins from the hood (count the turns to remove so you can reinstall) and see if the hood closes close to flush.
Note the fender gaps between the hood both with and without pins installed. Is the gap larger on the driver side with pins in? The hood hinges may be worn allowing the pins to slide out of the latches.
