    1962 side flag placement

I need to drill holes on the sides of my fenders for the cross flags on my 62 vette. The fenders are replacement parts that had no holes. Can someone give me some measurements so I can drill the holes correctly?

    Thanks...John

      Hi Larry

Thanks for your response. That would be great if you have pictures with measurements. None of the books I have show measurements. Please let me know if the measurements are for the holes or the center of the cross flags.I want to get these as accurate as possible. Also since you have a 62 vette. Can you look at the routing of your tachometer cable after it goes through the large hole on the firewall behind the distributer and the route it takes to the tach gauge.Pictures would be great also. Is it possible for you to send all this info to my regular e-mail address after you post it here?

PS..My car is the 250 HP..Where the tach cable enters the hole at the firewall,is a rubber boot used to seal that hole? I saw that in a book but want to ask you since you have a 62 vette.

      Thanks....John

        62 tach cable installation

Larry, I am going to replace my tach cable also and the cable already in there is not original. could you please send me the same underdash photos?

John, I used the rubber boot from Paragon w/o the metal ring holder they supplied with it. It should be glued in with black RTV type 3M sealer. The hole is also very tight for the cable end to go thru and I put the cable thru it before I installed in firewall (and engine was out!!). I lubed up a larger socket than the cable end and pushed it in the hole and then forced the cable end thru the hole while pushing out the socket. Now I will have to do this while in the car. Not as easy.

          Re: 62 tach cable installation

As for the elmblem measurement there is no good datum line I can measure for you that will help you drill the holes. Drop me an email with your adress and i will trace the area this week end and mail you a patern to use (some one else did this for me on the front CORVETTE letter and it saved me hours of trying to line them up).

As for the other things I am building a tube frammed car With a big block in it,I am using a hand laid dash cluster with aftermarket gauges in it,So I cant help you with the other questions.
