I need a midyear expert! Original '64 3-bar KO spinners have a center dust cap that appears to be pressed in place; the repo pieces have three pins that hold the center dust cap in place. Question: on original KO's, is it possible to remove the center dust cap from the spinner with the KO mounted on the car without harming the cap or spinner, or does this piece come off from the back after the spinner is removed? You have probably figured out what we are wrestling with, so don't say get a bigger lead hammer and whack the sucker. Thanks guys. David

Re: 1964 original knock-off
The pins don't hold the dust cap on the repro KO's that I've seen. Mine come off from the front just like the originals. You have to be careful not to bend the caps. Pry off with a thin blade screwdriver. I think one of the Corvette catalogs has a suction tool to remove the caps, but I don't remember where I saw it. I've had mine off numerous times. You just have to be careful in removal. If they get bent, there difficult to get back on.- Top
