I am confused! I have been getting mixed information as to the correct location for the hood support for my 1966(mid January build) 427-390HP w/PS PB but, no A/C. I was orginally told it belongs on the passenger side if it does not have A/C but does have PS and now I am being told it belongs on the left side when equiped like mine. I have looked in several good restoration books and have seen them both ways. Can anyone please help solve my mystery? Thanks!!!

Other than some very early production cars, all big blocks had the support on the left (drivers) side no matter what other options were involved. The change occured because of the addition of the A/C option for big block but it was not necessary that the car be so equipped in order to have the left side support.
Everett Ogilvie recently wrote an article about this very subject which appeared in a previous issue of the Corvette Restorer and I think he nailed down the point of change in production. Your January 66 build car would definitely have had a left side support.
