I am trying to determine if the upper windshield frame (not molding)is different for sunvisors. Or are the screws for the supports just screwed into the header molding? Additionally, I have 2 AIM's, one has the RPO 261 sunvisor page and one does not (missing?). The diagram of the windshield assy shows side frame assy as pn 3762553/4. The diagram of RPO 261 windshield assy shows side frame pn 3762679/80. Both AIM's are 1959 Corvette, pages respectively dated 8/13/58 & 6/30/58. Are there different windshield side pieces?

Re: C1 upper windshield frame/sunvisors
Joseph,
Yes, the headers are different, but with a little care, you can convert a non-visor header to accept visors in a manner that can't be detected by judges. The outer mounting hole at each side, is a 1/4" hole in the header that lines up with drilled and tapped holes in the windshield posts. The inboard holes have a piece of metal reinforcement attached inside the header for the screws to thread into. You can either epoxy a plate in there, or use nutserts on the inboard holes to provide the mounting. For the outboard holes, you just need to locate the drilled and tapped holes in the posts, and drill the holes in the header to line up with them.
