I am trying to find an original, correct oil dipstick for a 72 BB AC vette. Any suggestions on where I can find one? (Would a dipstick from a Chevelle or Camaro be the same?) Thanks

Re: 72 AC BB oil dipstick (original)
Melissa----
You're in luck. The original dipstick used for 1972 Corvettes with LS-5 is still available from GM under the original part number of GM #3981088. It carries a current list price of $8.64, so it's not going to set you back too much, either. Is there any nuance of difference between this dipstick and those originally installed in 1972? There may be. However, this one uses the "red button", as original.
The original Chevelle, Camaro, and passenger car dipsticks were different than Corvette. However, the 3981088 is used to SERVICE 1965-69 big block Chevelles and Camaros when the tube is also changed to the Corvette tube, GM #3891089.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Jay-----
I don't know what parts other than the regular PRODUCTION tube and dipstick were used on 1969 big block with C-60. According to GM, there were no special or differnt parts used. The GM #3981088 dipstick and GM #3981089 tube didn't exist for 1969, so it couldn't have been those parts that were used.
On the other hand, if there actually was a longer tube and dipstick used for 1969 with 427 and C-60, I don't know what other set of parts that it could have been other than the above-referenced. So, it's an "enigma".In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
