replacement radiator supports...('63 non-fi)

hello all,

because of a couple msgs found here, i ordered a replacement radiator support from Coffman Corvettes, Mansfield, OH last January...nearly June now and my order is not progressing...beginning to doubt that further waiting will bring result....

has anyone had dealings with Coffman's? if so, do they usually or ultimately make good on orders?

if it transpires that Coffman's is not gonna provide this part, could someone suggest another source?

You will find the supports listed in most of the major vendors catalogs, but I doubt that any are stocking them. Most are drop shipped from the source, Coffman. As far as I know they are the only source for supports.

Hi Dave,
I searched for a long time and found an original '63 non-FI on ebay for around $180.00. If you moniter ebay auctions for a while one will show up. I missed out on a couple.
Aside from the Driveline ads, this seemed to be the best source. Units that I did see for sale in the Driveline went for about $300.00.

Dave, I think they are having some QC problems. I talked to paragon a couple of weeks ago and they really didn't even want to sell me one. I believe they use Coffman as their vendor. They stated that they are getting numerous complaints that the support does not fit properly. I don't know but perhaps the delay is due to them trying to rectify the problems. I bid on an original on ebay and was outbid at $350. I didn't see any advertised in the last Driveline but I may have missed it. Good luck in your search - unless of course you are bidding against me!

You might want to check some of the catalog people like Long Island Corvette for the lower support replacement part. I had the same problem a couple of years ago and just replaced the bottom of the support. The replacement part was available right away and it was identicle to the original.

I ordered a non-FI 63 support from Corvette Central, who of course sent me the Coffmans'. My mechanic was ready to pull his hair out when he found the mounting brackets were almost a half inch off and spent hours messing with it and modifying it while trying to keep it pretty and new for my car. I contacted CC who sent me a Gift Certificate for my trouble, but it appears this is a real problem.

thanks to all for the great replies....

when this started i'd talked to Paragon and they said that the support they would supply was not exactly the same dimension as the 'real' ones...and since they all come from Coffman's guess it doesn't make any difference from whence purchased: they're all liable to have fit problems

might have to re-think this but that idea about getting the lower repair section might be a good one....
