    Zone and Dearler Numbers

I have been able to verify (with the help of Mass. Motor Vehicle Dept.) that my '74 Corvette was originally sold by Lannon Chevrolet Olds, Woburn, MA., 01801 with the initial registration made at the Reading (or Redding if you prefer) office.

I want to determine the selling dealer zone and dealer number in place in 1974. I tried the NCRS dealer/zone search with no results. Any ideas? I have been told that these numbers can change over time so the existing people at Lannon may not be the best source. Thanks, Bill

Well I found it in the data base. Zone 32 Dealer 407 this info is from 1970.
When I did the search I just searched for MA or Massachusets.

I'd also rattle the cage at Lannon. That sounds like a family name a new owner would most likely change it.

          Bill,
I live in Massachusetts and Lannan Chevrolet has been there since the 60's and is still there today operating under the same name and by the same family. At least thats what their ads say. Give them a call. I believe they still sponsor a car show or two each year.

I bet they have their first file. Good luck.

I've called twice, confirmed where car was registered but little other info. Maybe I haven't gotten to the right person. Bill

If you are close enough, there is nothing like driving there in the car. Seeing it again can generate a bit more help in anyone.

Hello Mike, I purchased the car in Mass but I live in southwestern Conn so it's a little out of my weekend cruise route. It's a good idea though so if I ever get the car up there I'll drop in on them. Someone mentioned that they sponsor car shows, that might be a good time to make the trip. Bill

I would take a weekday off, maybe a Monday or a Friday, and drive over. The problem with a car show weekend is you may find a person in authority to help you, but if they are present, they are there to help with the car show and will be pre-occupied.

Com'n, aren't Mass and Conn those two little bitty states that are adjacent to each other up there in the northeast? Out here in the west, we are five driving hours from anywhere...you find yourself driving 11-12 hours each way just for a three day weekend. For a trip like yours, we would be back before noon.

When I wuz in Texas, one hour drive was just across the street. We thought nothing of driving three hours one way just to have dinner. I guess every thing is relative.

If you'd had a more reliable vehicle, it wouldn't have taken you an hour to cross the street!

Hey, leave us little States alone. Actually I'm from California and have been living in the East for about 14 years. While out West, and until two years ago, I had British sports cars and never ventured too far from home. This whole thing about having a reliable sports car is new to me. Now that I have a car taht will get me there and back I have to deal with the New England weather. The suns out now so the top is going down and I'm out of here. Have a great holiday weekend. Bill
