    1962- radio speaker

    Hi all.

I'm trying to find an original speaker or one that will work with the wonderbar radio. I tried corvette cenral and they don't have any for my year (1962). Does anyone know the size of the originals? ex. 6x9 or? Will any speaker work with the radio ? does it have to have that transformer on it? Corvette central has them for 63-67 vette. would those speakers fit and work with the wonderbar radio?

    Thanks...John

    John, C Central lists #521105 as a "speaker w/Transormer -Delco" for '58-'62
@ $32.00. If you can't get one, I have one from CC that I bought last month but never used. Pat G.

      Hi Pat

When I went to order that speaker from corvette central ( part #521105 ), the girl on the phone said it was for 63 - 67...She said they had no listing for a 58 - 62 vette, and that it was mistake in the book. The only speakers they had for mine were the new type for newer stereo's..With the speaker you have It would worry me to hook it up to my radio with a transformer if it's not for my car. Do you know if it will work for sure? I would not want to mess up my wonderbar radio.

      Bye...John

Yes, you do want to make sure that the speaker you get is for a '62 Corvette Wonderbar. It's got a transformer that matches the speaker to the radio. You do want to be sure you've got that. Otherwise, you'll damage the radio. Maybe not right away, but over time. Regular ordinary speakers will damage your radio.

I thought 58 to 67 were all the same, but I don't know for sure.

The 63-67 have a different impedance value in respect to the 58-62 version. I also noticed CC had it wrong when I received the ordered speaker some time ago... In the meanwhile I've been able to find a correct, original one via e-Bay.

          greetings,
          Rob.

Thanks Chris and Rob for your responses..Hey Rob, is there a number on the speaker for 1962 corvette? If so, can you send it to me so I can look for one?

Thanks again.....John I guess I won't be able to use my Radio until I find the correct speaker.

Well, I guess I will be calling C Central on Monday to see if I can send this one back. Very timely thread. Thanks for the info. Pat
