Windshield Glass

Looked in archives and the two names that I found frequently were OEM Glass and Auto City Classic. Apparently there is a issue with OEM's tint bandwidth, can't remember the issue with Auto City.

I understand everyone has an opinion,(and you know the rest of the saying), but I'd like to know which company you feel has a windshield that is closest to original, and will have the smallest deduction at judging. My car is a 66 coupe with Soft-ray glass all around.

I believe that Libby Owens Ford (LOF) produced most of the glass for Chevrolet vehicles in the 60s and early 70s. LOF continues to do business as a division of Pilkington and has reissued their old glasses under the name Pilkington Classics, 1-800-848-1351. Everyone I'm aware who has used Pilkington Classics for their glass replacement has been happy with the results.

I know that the cost for a correct date coded winshield for a 68-72 Corvette is $175 for the windshield, $50 for the LOF insignia and date code, $90 shipping (to California), and 8.25% CA sales tax on the $175 (14.44), for a grand total of $329.44. I would think that the windshield cost would be about the same for a 66. The $50 insignia cost will be constant, and shipping will vary from state to state, depending on distance, and paying sales tax will depend on whether Pilkington does business in your state or not. Allow 3 to 4 weeks for delivery.
