I need an original diverter valve for my 69 427/390. The vehicle now has the current service replacement diverter valve installed which appears nothing like the original diverter valve. I haven't been able to find any source for an original style 69 427/390 diverter valve.
Does anyone know of a possible source for an original style 69 427/390 diverter valve, and how much would it likely cost if I could locate one?
It bolts to the back of the smog (A.I.R) pump located at the front of the engine. It is connected to two hoses, via a T connection, which are connected to the smog trees that are connected the exhaust manifolds. There are a couple of decent pictures of the original diverter valve and its location (from some distance) on page 75 of the third edition of M.F. Dobbins Vette Vues Fact Book of the 1968-1972 Stingray.
Steve I just received my complete and correct A.I.R. system for my '74 LS4 this week including the correct dieverter valve from Bill Hodel, if anyone has your valve, he will, he knows all there is to know about these systems. He said mine is the most rare system that he sells and he had everything including correct part numbers and dates for everything, even the tower clamps had the correct dates on them. Give him a call at 330-832-0871, you will be pleased. Price, that's between you and Bill. Great guy too, tell him I said hello! Good luck!

Thanks for the info, as I've had no luck on my own. I'll try calling Bill tomorrow (if he's open on Saturdays) or Tuesday. It sounds like Bill is a good source for A.I.R parts. I'll give him your regards. Thanks again.
Bill Hodel is the best source to try first. No doubt about that, at all. If that doesn't get you what you're after, then you might try Cranes Corvette in San Diego or Greenhoes Corvette in the midwest.
Keep in mind that the 69 L-36 diverter valve is the same as that used for all 1969 big block applications except L-88/ZL-1. It's also the same as the valve used for 1971 LS-6. So, it's a very sought-after piece and it's quite expensive.
Send me the part number please. I have a big block valve but I it has a part number for a 1967- it is original. Maybe it is the same but I sort of doubt it. I gathered some extra parts in restoring my A.I.R.'67.
Another idea- there is a place in Shingle Springs California, Vintage Stop Corvette Parts or something relatively close to that. Not sure if they do C3s though.
The 1967 and 1969 valves are completely different and are not at all interchangeable.
The place Mike refers to in Shingle Springs is called Corvette Stop and operated by one Drew Odabasian. He has parts for all year Corvettes but I sort of doubt that he has this piece.
I called Bill Hodel this morning and he actually has two L36 7029298 diverter valves, a rebuilt one and an NOS one. And, you were right, they are not inexpensive.
