    Floor Jack

I'm looking to rebuild or possibly replace my old Hein-Werner (Made in USA) 3,000 pound floor jack. It decided to leak fluid big time out the pump. Does anyone know (1) if there are parts or kits to rebuild the pump? or (2) if any floor jacks are made in the USA anymore ? or (3) if anyone has a recommendation on a good dependable floor jack. Thanks, Pete

    Re: Floor Jack

Pete, I live near Spokane WA and there is a place in Spokane that actually rebuilds all sorts of pumps including floor jacks (I think they are called Spokane Pump). They can be rebuild. I am sure if you look in your area you will find a place that specializes in pumps. If you can't find any, let me know and I will try and contact the place up here and get some information for you. Thanks, Terry

Pete, I bought a 3 ton floor jack (double pump) heavy duty at Cost-co for under $100. Made well. Low profile. Fits under C5.... Don

        Pete,

If I were you I'd rebuild the Hein-Werner before I would buy a new one. They are top quality jacks and you'd be are pressed to find anythign comperable at the local hardware store or costco.

There's a place called Balckhawkparts.com that sells parts for Hein-Werner floor jacks. I've never used them but they have a website. http://www.blackhawkparts.com

Blackhawk is the parent company of Hein-Werner but I don't know if the above parts company is affiliated.

        Good luck,

        Eric

          Re: Floor Jack

Pete - I would go for the rebuild......but a good floor jack USA made is available from Lincoln, or at least it was a few years ago. I bought one and it has been great, seems like it was about $300 for a 2-2.5 ton. The quality difference is obvious from the imports.....but I bet if you go to an automotive jobber handling quality tools they can steer you to a local hydraulic repair center that can get your other jack back in business.....Craig

Knowing where Pete lives -- there is little local to him. He will have to order the parts for delivery (with a surcharge for remote delivery) or settle for a longer term fix and bring the jack back on one of his visits to civilization.

Eric and others - Thanks for feedback on what to do w/ my old Hein-Werner WS floor jack. BlackhawkParts has a repair kit for the WS so as soon as I order it and do the "open heart" surgery, the jack should be back in service and lifting my not-as-old Corvette Pete
