My 1966 Laguna Blue coupe #699 (base engine and telescopic steering wheel) was stolen 1/11/81. I was a graduate student at the time and the car did NOT have theft insurance, so I am still anxious to get it back (hope springs eternal!). Al Grenning, who, of course, keeps records of VIN number stuff told me that info on my 1966 #699 was part of survey results he obtained when the original person who did the survey, Lynn Hilliard, died around 1990. Al says the survey was done in the mid-80s, which means that someone had my car at least a few years after it was stolen. Unfortunately, Al has only the tabulated results, not the original sheets. I am interested in finding out whether any of the original sheets are still around and, if so, who had my car when the survey was done. Any info on this or #699 would be appreciated. Thanks, Bob.

Re: 1966 Lynn Hilliard survey
How would you be looking to get it back?
Purchase it from the current owner at todays fair market value if the owner wanted to sell ,or lay claim to it because it was stolen from you.
You may want to check with the stingray registry. Do you still have the stolen vechicle report to support your claim.- Top

Re: 1966 Lynn Hilliard survey
If your car was stolen and not recovered and you think the car is on the road with the original VIN number and licensed, I would think that law enforcement would be able to find who has the car now. Experienced Corvette theft in 1969 with my 64 convertible with air in Dallas. A Dallas police officer spotted the car after about 4 days and the thief stopped and ran, the police office did good, he did a open field tackle and caught the thief.- Top

Re: 1966 Lynn Hilliard survey
Jim, I reported my info to my local police and they did a nationwide VIN search and did not find the car registered. I don't know whether it was stolen again after the mid-80s survey, totaled, or just sitting unregistered somewhere. The tidbit of the existence of the survey is my first ray of hope in 24 years! Thanks, Bob.- Top
