Re: Distributor ID help needed
Howard-----
Tach drive-type distributors were only used on 62-74 Corvettes and, as far as I know, of these only 1962 used a dual point unit for special hi-performance and FI. I don't recall, offhand, if this unit used a vacuum advance, but I don't believe that it did. I can check on that, later, if no C1 afficionado provides the info earlier. Otherwise, this distributor could only be a GM over-the counter type unit. The "263" ball bearing units were an example of over-the-counter only distributors.
Anyway, if your distributor is a 1962 unit as I suspect, it would have to be the the special high performance 340 hp unit, since FI distributors had the "dual drive" system. The 340 hp distributor was GM #1110985 in both PRODUCTION and SERVICE.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

What you have is a 62 340H.P. distributer. These had no provision for vac/adv and were dual point. Many were sold over the counter to drag racers over the years as it was an economical H.P. dual point unit as an alternative to a Mallory. They can bring as little as $50.00 for a beat unit up to $200.00 for an NOS example. They are no longer available from Chevrolet. Rich #2276- Top
