    1967 holley 3810

    Dear Members,

I just purchased a 3810 for my 67 coupe, very reasonable. It has a 221 date code which I think equates to Feb 1972, 1st week production? What sort of smack do I get for wrong date? It has a funny orangish epoxy in the circle impression on front bowl-what's this?

I bought a new front bowl from the Carb Guy, but it doesn't have the hole for the round, black rubber gasket, it's filled solid. Is the correct 3810 front bowl still being produced or available anywhere? Thanks Much!

That epoxy was originally a lead seal. The floats on a 3810 are not adjustable from the outside.

I lost 14 points for a incorrect dated carb in Windsor. Mike

        Justin,

The epoxy is there because there was a leak in that area. If you remove it expect it to leak again. I know, because those areas were leaking on my #3367, except that they are located on the side of my carb. I used epoxy to stop mine from leaking.

          Justin,

My guess would be that the epoxy was used by a previous owner to seal a leak.
I purchased a new replacement 3810 which was one of the last built ( however I've heard they are making them again ) and it has the vent hole on the top. What's wrong with the bowl you have in the picture ? If you don't like the orange epoxy remove it and run a small bead of clear epoxy aroundnthe sealing joint.

The carb on my car leaked from the same place. I purchased set of the small round disks for the carb from an auto parts supply store that stocked Holley parts. I pried up the lead around the leaking disk in order to remove it, installed a new disk, and pounded the lead back down. It has not leaked since. This was a long time ago. If memory serves correctly, a disk had an o ring on the bottom to seal it to the body.
