67 4-Speed Console

Would like to know what the correct color would be for the painted section of the console. My interior color is black, should the finish be like the instrument cluster, semi gloss or should it be less glossy like the Dye type paint you use on the radio side panels.

Here's a shot of my 67 console with the #450 bright blue/white interior. This is an UNrestored part that had never been out of the car! It looks a little brighter than the radio panels. I'm not sure how much gloss has to do with the fiberglass of the panels and the potmetal of the console? Good Luck!

Hi Don:

My 67 interior is black, and the paint on my original console is in pretty good shape. My guess is that the paint at the ends of the console legs (up under the dash) is relatively unaffected by sunlight fading. I would describe the finish in that area as semi-gloss, or possibly a bit on the flatter side of semi-gloss.

I'll be interested to hear what others have to say about the correct level of gloss.

Joe. I wrestled with this question myself. The TIM says semi-gloss but in actuality, I think it is closer to satin black than semi-gloss black. I painted my console satin black and it looks right.
