    1970 side louvers

    My car painted before I bough it and they never taped off the side lovers so now they are all white,, I think they were crome on the edge and black on the inner what can I do to bring them back to original.. I tried to get new or old and nobody seams to have them.. Thanks JAck

    The 70 side louvers are unique in that they were painted body color and the horizontal edges where left unpainted. If your whole louver is painted a quick fix would be to take a razor blade or a fingernail and scrape the paint off the horizontal edges. You can see a good example of this on the 70 Corvette Registry. I dont have the web address but if you put it in google you will find it with no trouble.

        Jack,I had my side louvers flash chromed then I masked off the horizontals prior to painting them. I did not do anything with the backside other than overspray

          Tom,

          What type and size tape to you mask with ? I need to do mine(71) and with the 'eggcrate' having 3 surfaces + the interecting inside corners, masking will be a PITA. I have thought about some kind of narrow plastic tape.

            I think that's going to be your best bet...I believe 3M calls it "micro-fine tape". It comes in many different fractional inch widths, and is available at auto paint distributors.
