I know that small and big block rad supports are different but I was wondering if by chance if the 70 LT1 support would be the same as the BB ones. Anyone know for sure if they are the same or not? Thanks.

They are NOT the same for 1970 LT-1 and big block. However, they are very similar. The LT-1 copper/brass radiator had a core that was 26" wide. The 69-72 big block had a core that was 27-1/2" wide. Therefore, the position of the upper and lower stirrup brackets was different. Otherwise, they are the same.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: LT1/BB Radiator Supports
Thanks Joe...not what I wanted to hear, but what I was expecting to hear. Would you happen to know if converting a SB support to a BB support is as simple as relocating one of the lower rad cradles 1-1/2" farther apart and then using BB upper bolt-on cradles or would it involve relocating both lower cradles and then having to drill new holes for the upper bolt-on cradles? I'm just trying to weigh the pros and cons on modifying a small block one that I found or to keep looking for the correct one.- Top

I believe that it involves relocating the right side, lower support bracket (u bracket) and using the big block radiator upper right support bracket. New holes would need to be drilled for the right side upper bracket attachment bolts. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
