Fuel is leaking from the fuel filter bowl on my 1960 270hp. I tried tightening the star wheel on it and it only got worse. I pulled everything apart and inspected everything. I thought the gasket looked ok and I did not notice any cracks or chips in the bowl. I put everything back together finger tight but it still leaks. Could this be something as simple as a new gasket? It has not been changed for at least 6 years. Also, are there some steps one should take when putting this assembly back together? Thanks for any help.

Re: 1960 Fuel Filter assembly Leaking
take the glass bowl and bail and filter element off the filter main body. get ya a new filter that'll include a new rubber seal.insert the filter element into the main body, coat the rubber seal with silicone dielectric grease(sparingly) then install the glass bowl with the rubber seal on the lip of the glass bowl and bail.tighten the star wheel finger tight. back it off 1/16th turn, fire the old girl up and i'll be your problem is solved. good luck, mike- Top
