79 C3 frame : still questions

Hi,

A few weeks ago i posted a message about a twisted frame.

I still haven't found the answer to how much tolerance there is in the frame of a C3 concerning twist. I measured from the sill to the floor of another 79 and this one had even more difference. We are 100% sure that this second car had no accident.
Seen the amount of shims used at the factory the frames don't seem to be very accurate altogether.

I would like to know before I have someone working on the frame. Mine has a +- 0.6" twist in the front left.

Most frame checking dimensions have a tolerance of +/- 3/16".

Thanks for the reply. This tolerance seems logical, but I found that the factory shimmed one side 3 shims more than the other so this would mean that the frame was about 0,23" out of spec, which is already more than the limit, and this existed right off the factory.

When checking the birdcage of the body the right to left side is almost level. So the difference is only in the frame itself.

They were building about twice as many Corvettes in 1979 as any of the midyears or early C3s. At that rate, I imagine a lot more garbage slipped through than in other years.

So it is off. What do you really want everyone here to tell you that you do not already know? Cut all the mounts off and remount them correctly? Change to another frame? Sue Chevrolet to have them rectify the problem on a 26 year old car?

Or simply put the shims back in like your found them and live with it.

Does it affect how it drives or you enjoy it when it is all together? Then don't worry about it.
