    C-3 1971 Ammeter Test

I'm not sure the ammeter gague is functioning. Is there a method to testing functionality? While the cluster is installed? Method to rebuilding/ replacing resistor?

    Thank you.

    Tony,

My 71 has power windows so if I push the down button when the windows are down, the gague flickers to the negitive side, then returns to the missle when I release the switch. Also, when I first start the car, it goes to the "+" side for a very short time.

OK So when I start the car, the needle should move. I it doesn't, I probably have a dud.

Does anyone know of a testing procedure with the meter removed?

      Thank you.

Search the archives and you'll find several mentions of how to grossly verify an ammeter using a 1.5V battery and momentary 'touch' with the ammeter out of the car and on the bench.
