C2 - '67 exp. tank & BB hod

Gentlemen, here we go again. At a cruise night yesterday, I met a fellow with a '67 SB coupe. He isn't the original owner...not even close.

Anyhow, two items arose. One, he had a BB hood, which the actual existance of for SB cars has been beaten to death on this board.

However, the second item was the expansion tank. There was none, just a radiator fill cap on the radiator itself. My friend said that for late '67 cars (he thought his was June-ish) there were no expansion tanks. I don't think this was the case.

As I said, this was just a friendly conversation, and no, I didn't question his beliefs, but I am curious about the expansion tank.

Could it be an exBB car now SB? Not many of those He should look for all tell tale signs of BB vs SB, suspension, driveline, rad support and width, fuel line, etc etc..... Craig

Late 67 small blocks I believe had expansion tanks. My June 29, 67 (22049) small block has an expansion tank. Does his engine pad match his VIN?

Does anyone here have a 67 later then 22049? Please contact me to compare anomolies.

My 227XX car had the expansion tank. 42m miles, 2nd owner. Still had the original "Blue GM" markings on the hose.

All '67 small-blocks had aluminum radiators and expansion tanks (at least they did when they left St. Louis). Bubba is everywhere....

That's why not in the past 20 years I've not taken my SB 67 having the BB hood to any NCRS meets, tired of the beatings.

NO 1967 small block Corvette was ever built with a copper brass radiator and/or a radiator with an integral filler cap. Not a single one. Period.
